Lonnie Whittington

How did you first get interested in New Thought/Religious Science?
In December of 1989 Michele invited me to the church that she had been going to for about a year. It was First Church on 7th Street (where we are presently) and I instantly felt as if I had "come home".

Who are some of your most significant teachers/mentors?
Rev. Michele is my best teacher, but she was always harder on me than any of her other students, I don't know why! But I must say that each and every person I encounter is a teacher to me in one way or another.

Do you have an area (such as health, prosperity, pets, etc.) that you are drawn to?
I have been asked to work in many different areas. Rev. Michele and I enjoy counseling couples, but I have also been drawn to work with inmates in jail.

Do you prefer to work face-to-face, over the phone, or other ways?
I am comfortable with any of these, but I feel that being with the person is most powerful.

How long have you been a Practitioner?
Since Fall of 2001.

Are you a native of Arizona?
I grew up in Northern Ohio, graduated from Ohio State University in 1972 and moved to Arizona in 1975 because I couldn't take the winters anymore.

Did you start in another religion?
My dad took me to a Methodist church when I was young. The music on Easter was always great, but I don't remember much else besides not liking to wear a suit and clip-on tie in Sunday school. I was grateful to have been led to Religious Science, it reafirms what I have thought of God and spirituality all my life.

What is your greatest joy about being a Practitioner?
When I work with clients I feel particularly aware of my connection with Spirit because I am totally immersed in service. I always end a session feeling wonderfully connected and energized. I always look forward to having the chance to work with a client. The opportunity helps me just as well as it helps them see the Truth.
