Dr.
Cie Scott
How did you
first get interested in New Thought/Religious Science?
I was invited to attend Agape in L.A. when it was a smaller church. I
was very skeptical; I thought there might be 'brain-washing' involved,
but I was so intrigued because I agreed with everything our head minister
said! I told my friend I would keep coming until I could find a reason
not to, and I have been a Religious Scientist ever since!
Who are some of your most significant teachers/mentors?
I would have to say Rev. Michael Beckwith was my first life-altering
mentor. I have met or often spent time with Dr. Deepak Chopra, Terry
Cole Whitaker, Dr. Susan Jeffers, Dr. John Gray and most of the best-selling
authors of New Thought. In L.A., they were my friends, next-door neighbors,
and regular influences; I am blessed! I now rely heavily on Reverend
Michele and my fellow practitioners.
Do you have an area (such as health, prosperity, pets, etc.) that you
are drawn to?
I have strong faith in every category and many personal accomplishments
in prosperity, health, and relationships but I have no preferences. I
have a wonderful CD called WEALTH AND CREATIVITY if you have prosperity
issues and I encourage everyone to come to COW events!
Do you prefer to work face-to-face, over the phone, or other ways?
I am comfortable with all of the above.
How long have you been a Practitioner?
I have been a Practitioner since July 2000 and licensed first by the
United Church of Religious Science and schooled at Agape Church of
Religious Science, under Rev. Michael Beckwith in Culver City, CA.
Thanks to Reverend Michele and the United Church, I believe I have
the dubious distinction of being first ever to be licensed by both.
Are you a native of Arizona?
I grew up outside Chicago, and lived in Washington, D.C., New York City,
Dallas. I lived 12 years, which is most of my adult life, in Los Angeles,
and have lived in Phoenix since 2003.
Did you start in another religion?
I was brought up as a Presbyterian, which was a mild and unscarring religion.
We ate a lot of do-nuts after service. Thankfully, I always liked going
to church, even when I questioned some of the teachings. I believe
that being a Religious Scientist allows me to align with God more fully
and live in Truth.
What is your greatest joy about being a Practitioner?
Living each day knowing the Truth allows me to deal very quickly with
anger, sadness and situations that would be difficult. I always keep
on my path and affirm my faith daily. I can always see the light at
the end of the tunnel or the silver lining in the cloud. (When I have
challenges, I know that blessing is just hiding in appearance, but
it's still there.)
